DESCRIPTION
Zahedi date, also known as Qasb , is another type of date produced in Iran. Zahedi date is one of the most delicious semi-dry and dry dates in Iran and the world that can be grown in most tropical cities of Iran, but most types of Iranian Zahedi dates are grown in Bushehr, Fars, Khuzestan and Kerman provinces. In Bushehr province, this date is better known as Qasb. One of the best types of that is in Talha city, Dashtestan in Bushehr province.
Zahedi dates are thick and delicious, and because they have less sweetness than other date cultivars, they are especially suitable for those who have diabetes and want to include dates in their diet.
Zahedi dates are on average oval. The skin is golden yellow to light brown and has a pleasant taste.
The size of these dates is about 3.5 cm, they have a dry and shiny appearance. The moisture content of Zahedi dates is lower than other types of dates and its humidity is usually below 14%. Zahedi date can be stored at normal room temperature up to 18 months and in the cold storage at a temperature of 5-10 up to 24 months. Some people freeze it at -15 for longer shelf life.
Zahedi date is harvested in the mid-September, but are offered to the market from mid-October to November.
